At HNJ, students are introduced to a variety of enjoyable and active ways
to keep their bodies moving. Our coaches are dedicated to helping
students understand the basics of body movement while fostering a love for
physical activity. The HNJ Physical Education department emphasizes the
importance of respect, discipline, active listening, and, most importantly,
having fun! Our program is truly exceptional, featuring sports such as
kickball, basketball, soccer, bowling, and the traditional Holy Name flag
games. We also continue to add new programs such as yoga, offering many options to keep students active.
Our students also participate in exciting events, including the annual Loyola
women's basketball game, the Pelicans P.E. takeover, the "teachers vs.
7th-grade" basketball game, and friendly dodgeball matches with Tulane
football players. These experiences highlight the importance of building
relationships and partnerships.
Additionally, we host Field and Water Day, an annual event for PreK-3 to
7th-grade students filled with friendly competition, water slides, and lasting
memories.
Whether your child is a novice athlete or on the path to becoming a
professional, we treat all children with the utmost respect and encourage
them to do their best with their God-given talents. Every child has value, is
loved, and has the ability to stay active in some form. HNJ P.E. is not just a
class; it’s a lifelong experience that Gators will cherish forever.
