Graduate Profile

Introduction

The hallmark of Jesuit education is its focus on educating the whole person: mind, body and spirit. Holy Name of Jesus has adopted four core beliefs that support this development process. Those core beliefs create the framework for student formation and our positive behavior program. These characteristics define what our students will emulate as they graduate from HNJ. Those four core beliefs are listed below with supporting characteristics.

Boys and Girls for Others

• I actively look for opportunities to see outside myself and extend my love and mercy to others.
• I am a concerned and responsible person for others.
• I am kind and gentle, especially to those more vulnerable. 
• I move beyond self-interest. 
• I recognize injustice in my community and feel compelled to use my gifts and resources to take action to assist those in need. 
• I seek justice for the most vulnerable in our community.
• I share my gifts and talents with others.

Find God in Everyone and Everything

• I accept all people the way God made them.
• I acknowledge that every person is loved by God and has a right to what they need to flourish and live a full human life.
• I celebrate the unique gifts and talents of others.
• I display empathy and tolerance and grant others mercy and forgiveness.
• I love my neighbors as myself. 

Strive for Personal Excellence

• I am curious and positive and acknowledge that they do not have all the answers. 
• I am willing to take healthy risks.
• I ask and answer deep and critical questions about the world around me. 
• I demonstrate creativity through my various gifts, talents, and skills.
• I prioritize my mental, physical, and spiritual health. 
• I set and evaluate goals for my academic, personal, and spiritual growth.

• I allow the Holy Spirit to use me to encourage others through words and actions.
